The Agafay Desert is located just a 45 mn drive from the lively souks and the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. Nestled between plain and mountains lies the Agafay Desert, (Don’t be misled by its name, this is not a Saharan-style sandy desert ) a wild, stony and barren landscape, just what we need for an off the beaten track gravel experience!
Agafay / Takerkoust
You will be met by your guide at 08h30 and drive west of Marrakech to reach the northern edge of Agafay. This semi-lunar terrain is the perfect terrain for an amazing Gravel Bike Tour day. After we get our bikes fitted, we will ride a short flat section, and then a short climb through a nice Eucalyptus forest. On the top of the climb, we will enjoy the superb views of the barren hills contrasting with the snow capped Atlas Mountains. In the spring, you will ride endless miles of smooth gravel roads across undulating hills alive with blooming wildflowers and cross isolated Berber villages. At the end of the ride we will reach our lunch spot at Lake Takerkoust. After lunch, a 40 mn drive will bring us back to Marrakech.

This tour is available for private groups only, the tour can start with 2 participants. We can offer a personalized program for bigger groups or cyclists who wish a more challanging ride or any specific requests.
The Area
This tour takes starts 35 km west of Marrakech Between the Houz Plain and the Atlas Mountains.
Your Guide
A Moroccan cycling, english speaking, guide who will meet you at your hotel and stay with you the whole day. Before the cycling stage, he will give you a briefing about safety and the use of your bike. All along the day, he will give you explanations about the traversed area and the way of life of the local population. He can also assit you in case of injury or mechanic issues on your bike.
Your Bike
Your Gravel Bike (Alu frame) will be in perfect working condition, it will come with a helmet and standard pedals. Id you use SPD pedals, please let us know upon booking.
The Food
You won't have to worry on food or drink, we take care of everything. Mineral water will be supplied all day with a mix of dry fruits to refuel. For lunch we will organize stop in a restaurant overlooking the artifical lake of Takerkoust.
Assistance
You will have a full back up during this cycling day tour. A 4X4, with a bike rack, will be following behind at a reasonable distance in case of emergency or tiredness.
